Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
