Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is often times viewed as one of the most complicated but well-loved poker games. It’s a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for play from every level of players. This is the chief reason why a once irrelevant variation, has expanded in acceptance so amazingly.

Omaha/8 begins just like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A round of wagering follows where gamblers can bet, check, or fold. 3 cards are dealt out, this is called the flop. One more sequence of betting happens. After all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, an additional card is revealed on the turn. a further round of wagering happens at which point the river card is flipped. The players must attempt to put together the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where a few entrants get confused. Contrasted to Hold’em, where the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player must utilize precisely 3 cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. Not a single card more, no less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot might be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It is the best possible hand out of everyone’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the same concept in nearly every poker game.

A low hand is more difficult, but certainly free’s up the action. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that might be put together, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and lower. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there’s no lower hand presented, the high hand wins the complete pot.

It may seem complex initially, after a few hands you will be agile enough to get the basic nuances of the game with ease. Seeing as you have individuals wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are being used at the same time, Omaha hi low offers an overwhelming range of betting choices and owing to the fact that you have numerous individuals trying for the high hand, along with several shooting for the low hand. If you enjoy a game with a lot of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to compete in Omaha 8 or better.
