Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While playing online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might just be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
