Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Tuesday, 27. August 2019
Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve closing table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest players around the world. While gambling on net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total dollar value. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
