Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the customary 52-card common deck and one joker. The gambler is given 7 cards faces showing and the house gets seven cards face down.
One 5 card hand and a two card hand have to be put together from the 7 cards, the five card hand has to be better than the two card hand. To win, a player needs both of his hand totals to be higher than the houses.
