Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Monday, 11. April 2016
Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the closing table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While betting on internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
