Web Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Tuesday, 22. March 2016
Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve closing table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full dollar value. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world might just be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
